A milestone for Pakistan's engineered wood industry — what E1 certification really means for your home and health.
What E1 certification really means
The E1 standard is the European benchmark for formaldehyde emissions from wood-based panels. Achieving it means our boards release less than 0.1 ppm of formaldehyde under controlled chamber testing — a level considered safe for residential interiors, schools and healthcare facilities.
For Pakistan, this is a first. Until now, every panel rated to this grade had to be imported. With KTC's E1 line, architects can specify a locally-made board that meets the same standard as the most exacting European projects.
Choosing E1 is choosing the air your family breathes. It is the most important — and most invisible — decision in any interior project.
Why it matters at home
Formaldehyde is used as a binder in nearly every engineered-wood product. Lower-grade boards continue to off-gas for years, contributing to headaches, respiratory irritation and long-term indoor air quality issues. E1 panels effectively cap that emission curve at a level the WHO considers safe.
What changes for our industry
Local builders no longer have to choose between premium quality and supporting Pakistani manufacturing. Our pricing remains competitive with imported alternatives, but with shorter lead times, full traceability and a manufacturer that picks up the phone.
